A Good Reminder

Meg WilsonArchive, Injustice

isaiah-55When I am frustrated by seeming injustice, inequality, or even inactivity when I want to see action, I remember this verse. It helps me to pause and reflect on the truth that there is One far greater in charge of all that happens here on earth. This reminder brings peace as I look back at the times I felt the Lord was slow to provide an answer or blind to some injustice.

After time passes, often it reveals that the Lord had a far bigger picture than I did. His timing is perfect even when it doesn’t line up with my desires. I now say, “The Lord is faithful even if He isn’t fast.” When things get tough, I can be sure that the Lord is up to something. I have learned sometimes I can shorten the pain simply by remembering this verse and leaning into what is unfolding instead of fighting it and questioning where God is.

Then there are the times I may never understand what the Lord is doing or why He is allowing something to happen. In these moments I must surrender to His authority and acknowledge He is sovereign, mighty, and all knowing. I choose to trust His promise to use it all for my good. I have felt like Job, “Though He slay me, yet will I praise Him.” Keeping the Lord high and awesome in power will keep me appropriately small and dependent upon His love and grace. I have never been sorry, but I probably will need to be reminded again tomorrow.
