The Ministry

P1040225Hope After Betrayal Ministries was born out of Meg’s experience, writing, and years of leading support groups for women. The idea came out of a divine appointment. She walked by the training room in the US Digital Outreach Center and realized women needed a safe, neutral location to meet with complete anonymity. After panic subsided (because she knew nothing about starting a non-profit), doors began opening and road signs were blinking on a path of God’s design. It has been clear from the beginning that this was not Meg’s project, but the Lord invited her to join Him in this work. He then surrounded her with amazing board members who have expertise in crucial areas.

IMG_0527In less than a year, the Lord provided co-leaders for Healing Hope groups, office space, funds, regular donors, an assistant and the list keeps growing. Our first Healing Hope group was six women and then doubled by our second session.

God is on the move, and though Meg is often surprised how far and how fast this ministry goes, she trusts the One who is driving and is thankful for those who are joining her on the journey!

Our Vision
A place to find hope and healing for those injured as a result of sexual betrayal.

Mission Statement
Offer healing, support and empowerment through education, mentoring and classes for women betrayed by their partner’s sexual acting out. Raise awareness regarding the impact of sexual betrayal through education, training and resources.

Statement of Faith
Hope After Betrayal and all it’s board members and staff believe the following:

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
  • We believe that the salvation of the lost and sinful comes solely through the regeneration by the Holy Spirit, leading us to faith and trust in the atoning work of Jesus Christ.
  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and lost; they that are lost unto the eternal separation from God and they that are saved unto the eternal presence of God.
  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We believe God ordained gender and marriage between one man and one woman.

HABM Board Member Bios

Meg Wilson | Founder and CEO

Meg Wilson has been married to her husband, Dave for over 30 years. They have two adult daughters. Since becoming a believer, Meg has gravitated towards women’s ministry. From small group facilitator, speaker, author, to ministry CEO; she has experienced the hand of God in powerful ways. Her passion is Her non-profit, Hope After Betrayal Ministries. Named for her book, published in 2007, her mission is to help women find hope and healing from the pain of their partner’s sexual betrayal. In addition, she hopes to increase awareness in the church of how to minister to the brokenhearted.

Linda Friberg  | Board Chair

Linda has been married to her husband, Merv for more than 40 years.  Together, they have three adult children and five grandchildren.  She has served in a variety of ministries independently and alongside her husband.  Linda recently retired after almost 30 years in public education, both as an elementary teacher and administrator of the district English Language Learner program.   She has a heart to help and equip others—refugees, children, English learners, women in crisis.  Most of all, she wants Christ to be honored in every aspect of her life!

Susan Lauderdale | Board Treasurer

Susan was first a client of Hope After Betrayal and now serving on the Board of Directors.  Susan is the owner of Northwest Accounting and Tax Service in Vancouver, WA.  Even while working at her business she sees the effects on her clients when sexual betrayal issues enter a relationship. But there is hope and recovery is possible for one or both parties. Susan is married to Dave and they are celebrating 37 years of marriage this summer. They have two grown children.  Susan wants to see Hope After Betrayal grow so that women world wide can see God at work and experience recovery that is not dependent on their betrayal experience.

Tamar Schrater | Board Secretary

Tamar grew up in northern CA, but became a Pacific Northwest girl 17 years ago. She and her husband, Peter, have been married 15 years and have 6 children, ranging from kindergarten through high school. They have served in a variety of ministries and are on the pastoral team at City Harvest Church in Vancouver, WA. Tamar has seen how destructive sexual addiction is to individual’s, the spouses and families.  She loves to see God restore things that seem beyond redemption. She is passionate about helping people be set free in all areas of their life, specifically in their emotions and their sexuality. She wants to help Hope                                                                      After Betrayal grow to serve as many women as possible.
