Broken During Christmas

Christmas Eve is only a few days away, and while many are filling themselves with holiday cheer, perhaps you are facing a broken heart and an overwhelming situation. If you are dealing with the trauma of betrayal, our staff and facilitators are here to walk with you through it. Below is a testimony from someone who has recently completed a Healing Hope Group:

Anonymous Testimony:

“I thought because we had gotten through all the really hard stuff, the affair and infidelity, we were in an okay space.  Haha, was I wrong!  The topic of coping through the use of pornography and all that comes with that came up between us when someone close to us shared they were struggling with it.  I was prompted (yes, by the Holy Spirit) to ask my husband, “do you do that or use pornography to cope?”  Well, as you all know, the first answer was a lie and slowly the truth came out.   The word “slowly” describes how it came out and I can tell you I was, again, feeling frightened, frustrated and furious.

Thank goodness I told my husband, “You need help and you better get help, because without it you can’t live here with me.”  He sought a FMO group [men’s support group] locally and began attending.  This is where he was introduced to the Hope After Betrayal Groups for spouses, and shared this resource with me.  I signed up right away, purchased the books [Hope After Betrayal by Meg Wilson] and started reading. I devoured Meg’s writings in a few hours.  Now, when the group started, I was madder than a wet hen that I, a mental health provider, had to go to a support group.  It wasn’t the group concept that angered me, it was the type of group that angered me!  I asked God, several times, why is this happening in my home and in my marriage?   Yep, I was humbled beyond belief and attended all of the sessions that the facilitators so graciously, warmly and kindly held.

They embraced us all, encouraged and gently shared their own stories along with making kind recommendation that were always faith based.  I learned so much!  It was the fastest two hours of the week and the best two hours of my week.  With this group and the assistance of a private counselor, we have remained together and continue with the blessings of the Lord to communicate.  I would not be where I am today, if it had not been for the support, guidance and faith-based information that was provided.  Thank you!”

God is Near

We pray that as you face your new landscape this Christmas season, you will wait expectantly on the God who sees, cares and is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. For Immanuel (God with us) will meet you this Christmas.
